Nature park Lonjsko polje

Just over an hour’s drive southeast of Zagreb lies the Lonjsko Polje Nature Park, known for ancient timber houses, rustic lifestyles and – most famously of all – nesting storks. The area is also home to the Posavlje horse, a stocky, semi-wild breed, and the spotty-hided Turopolje pig.

Kumrovec: Along Tito's trail

One of Zagorje’s most popular destinations for a day trip is Kumrovec. Kumrovec is famous as the birthplace of Josip Broz, the Croatian communist who under his adopted party code name of “Tito” led Yugoslavia’s antifascist resistance movement during World War II. He became the father of the post-war Yugoslav federation.

Kumrovec is a traditional agricultural village whose buildings have been restored to form the “Old village” Museum. The house where Tito grew up is situated inside the Kumrovec Museum Village and contains mementos of his career as an admiral of the Yugoslav Army.

Join us for a day trip to the Ethnographic Village of Kumrovec and revive a part of Tito’s trail.
