Vugrinec Collection - Masterpieces of Croatian Modernism
Come and see one of the most attractive private collections of Croatian paintings and sculptures from the 19th and 20th centuries, gathered by famous Croatian football player Davor Vugrinec. Igor Zidić, the exhibition’s author, says: “There are those who know how, but can’t; there are those who can, but don’t know how. Vugrinec can and knows how!” You can really feel the gravity of Croatian art in the 46 pictures and nine sculptures exhibited. The beauty we sometimes disregard and don’t see is here in its purest form. If you want to escape your daily routine, this exhibition is the best time machine for the purpose. Beautiful landscape paintings, a boat in bluish mist, the sculpture of a caring mother and child make the viewer nostalgic about simple, sweet moments in life. The collection cannot be summed up in only a few words or under the same characteristics. All of the works are not connected by similar colours, themes or shapes. The exhibition is an overview, evidence and existence of the wide span of Croatian authors who seek our attention and awe.
The exhibition will remain open until 12 April 2015 in the Art Pavilion, Zagreb.
