The Music Biennale Zagreb
The Music Biennale Zagreb is an international festival of contemporary music founded in 1961.
During the festival in Zagreb many composers, music critics, the best musicians, and contemporary music and arts lovers from the region and Europe will found their satisfaction. This years, 29th Music Biennale is dedicated to the new music - including the "living Classics" of contemporary music and the new generation of composers from all over the world.
Closely interrelated with other arts, the Music Biennale Zagreb fills a considerable and a very distinctive position on the Croatian and regional cultural scene. Such a favourable situation is partly due to the choice of performers, most of whom are superb music professionals.
Tolerance and a high standard of musical production, creativity and reproduction are guiding thoughts of this musical event.
Throughout its history, the Biennale has collaborated with some of the biggest international names in contemporary music, including Luciano Berio, John Cage, Peter Maxwell Davies, Mauricio Kagel, Witold Lutosławski, Bruno Maderna and Igor Stravinsky.
