THE 9TH INTERNATIONAL THEATRE FESTIVAL OF THE BLIND AND VISUALLY IMPAIRED (12- 17 October 2015.)
THE 9TH INTERNATIONAL THEATRE FESTIVAL OF THE BLIND AND VISUALLY IMPAIRED- “BIT” /BLIND IN THEATRE
The nine symphonies of Beethoven, the nine Muses presiding over nine areas of art, the nine choirs of angels, and now the ninth edition of BIT as nine great smash hits that sweeten life every two years and a unique event which is now turned into a habit, into a tradition.
Bouquets of plays and workshops are in blossom in participants’ (visually impaired/ blind artists) memories, as are their meetings, round-table discussions as well as drinking bouts – goodness gracious, why not – all that squeezed into seven days in October in Zagreb, when the light of the soul creates illusion and declares “war” on skepticism, prejudice and stereotypes. Yes, all that love of the theatre, all that enthusiasm transcend the expected and transforms into that unrepeatable surrealist maxim – let’s be realistic, demand the impossible!
However, as every step that the blind and visually impaired people make is a struggle, and every attempt is a challenge, this introduction to the opening of the festival Mr. Vojin Perić (headmaster of the theatre) decided to dedicate to a great literary “fighter”, a knight who just like blind people, followed his soul in search of ideals and fought the windmills as eternal obstacles, as barriers in other people’s minds.
