Rodin Exhibition in Pavillion

Rodin in Meštrović's Zagreb

The exhibition Rodin in Meštrović’s Zagreb is open in the Art Pavilion on May 5, 2015. This is an exhibition at which the famed sculptor Auguste Rodin (1840-1917) is presented with some ninety works, among which are the most emblematic, like the masterpieces The Thinker, The Kiss, The Gates of Hell and The Bronze Age.

The exhibition is one of the cultural events taking place within the framework of Rendez-vous, the Festival of French Culture in Croatia in 2015. In this presentation, France is returning the visit of the successful first presentation of Croatian culture and art in the French Republic in 2012/2013, Croatie, la voici.

During the Festival of Croatian Culture in France, an exhibition of the sculptures of Ivan Meštrović was mounted in the Rodin Museum/ Musée Rodin in Paris; now France is presenting itself in Croatia with a Rodin exhibition. As well as in Zagreb, the works of Rodin are exhibited in Split, where, on May 8, 2015, the Meštrović Gallery opened an exhibition entitled Rodin’s Meditation in Split, at which the sculpture Meditation – The Inner Voice is presented.

The Rodin exhibition conceived expressly for the Art Pavilion in Zagreb covers ninety works and emphasizes the fertile and vigorous collaboration of Meštrović and Rodin, their mutual friendship and appreciation. As well as works in bronze, plaster and stone, and some score of drawings, historical photographs are shown, including those of the art photographer Eugène Druet, who photographed Meštrović ’s works while he was working in Paris.

Rodin’s works will be displayed in the Art Pavillion in Zagreb from 5th May until 20th September 2015.
