"Female designers 1930-1980: context - production - impacts" exhibition in HDD Gallery
"Female designers 1930-1980: context - production - impacts" exhibition in HDD Gallery, Boskoviceva 18, Zagreb, opens on 26 February and will remain open until 19 March 2015.
The goal of the exhibition and research project about the history of women’s design is to explore the continuity of the “women’s designer scene”, accomplishments of the designers, their influence on the designers of their time and of today, and the environment in which they worked. Exhibited are about thirty newly-created posters which are a sort of homage to selected women designers. Alongside this exhibition, a growing archive of textual and photographical documentation on women designers is being formed on the Internet. The authors of the project say they wanted to collect information on women designers and authors who influenced the history of design in the period from 1930 on, so that some of them could be remembered and others not forgotten. For the online database in the making, available as an open archive, the data were gathered from multiple sources and so far the period up to the year 1980 is covered.
